Pattern cutting a top with sleeves
We are delighted to welcome trained pattern cutter Elizabeth Cake to Made and Making.
This weekend workshop is ideal for those that have already undertaken one of our other pattern cutting courses.
During the course of the weekend you will learn how draft a bodice block and a one piece sleeve block. After accurately measuring your body, you will learn how to draft a bodice block and a one-piece long sleeve block to your own shape. From this, you will make a paper pattern and toile allowing you to check the fit of your top and make any final adjustments. You will then be able to take home a pattern and block for a perfectly fitting sleeved top.
The simple top will have a short back opening. Students will be shown how to move their bust darts into alternative positions, and if required, the tutor can discuss how to extend the top into a knee-length dress as well as specific sleeve variations.
You will need to bring a packed lunch and the following;
Sewing machine (please let us know if you would prefer to use one of ours)
some coloured pens/pencils and a rubber.
Your dress block from previous workshop for comparison (this is not essential)
You may find a patternmaster tool helpful, some will be available on the day but if you already have your own please do bring it along.
Pattern paper and calico are also required and can be made available for you on the day at an additional £10 charge. You need approx 1.5m of both.
This workshop is led by Elizabeth.
We need a minimum of three people to run this course.
People do cancel and we do hold waiting lists. If the date you would like is full please do contact us and we can add you to the list.
During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
