Learn the basics of using a machine and sewing whilst creating your own cushion cover
If you want to start at the very beginning this is the place for you - our get to know you sewing machine workshop
During this 5 hour workshops you'll be taught everything you need to learn to sew.
Topics covered will include;
The parts of the sewing machine
Threading a machine and winding a bobbin
Starting to sew
Presser feet and how to change them
Basic sewing machine maintenance
Creating and using a simple pattern
Make a cushion
You will need half a metre of fabric at least 140cm wide for the cushion cover, 1 or 2 buttons no bigger than 2.5cm (1 inch) diameter and a 40cm cushion pad.
Remember that fabrics do not need to be new and off the roll. They can come from old clothes, bedding and furnishings. I am happy to advise regarding suitability and quantity if you are looking to use recycled ones.
We can provide a variety of threads for use. However, if you wish to colour match exactly I suggest that your source a reel prior to the workshop to be on the safe side.
Coffee, tea and biscuits will be avialable but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.
