Our new freemotion textile illustration workshop will arm you with the techniques and tips to create your own lasting memories. Bring your favourite snaps to life with detailed stitching. It may be a memory of a holiday, the street that you live in or a favourite pet captured.
You will start with a simple introduction/reminder to freemotion sewing and techniques before understanding how to work on your chosen photo. You will understand how to appliqué form and create movement to bring your photo to life. You will learn techniques for adding depth and texture to your work and the all important skill of knowing when to stop.
You will work on your own photo. Your photo must be emailed to us no later than two weeks before the workshop date and those that work best will include landscapes and scenery short incorporating the human form. It must be an 'actual' size photograph with high resolution in order that it can be printed to an A4 size of similar. In most instances this just requires you to email this image without receding any file size.
All materials are included. If you wish to bring your own machine please ensure that you are familiar with how to drop the feed dog (or you may have a darning plate) and bring some spare bobbins. You will also need a a freemotion embroidery foot, also known as darning foot, (these will be available on the day to borrow if you do not have one). Please bring your manual if you are in any doubt.
