Exploring textiles - next steps

Availbe in 5 week blocks this is pefect for those that have already completed our textiles course and wish to develop further or who have some experience with textiles techniques.

During the sessions you will develope your skills and work on new projects incorporating different techniques such as paper making, mono printing, resist painting, fusible webbing adhesion and stitch. In the second half we will create a textile wall hanging using wet and fry felting and weaving. You'll spend 2 hours every week playing with textiles being led in these different techniques.

You will learn a wide variety of techniques and learn how to incorporate the visual elements of line, tone, shape, colour, texture, pattern and form into your explorations.

There will be a wide range of exciting materials provided, including fabric, ribbons, threads, beads, raffia, wire, shiny foils, copper shim & wool tops. You may like to bring some of your own materials too, to give it that extra personal touch.

Please bring an A4 wire bound sketchbook (all media cartridge paper) to use in the sessions. If you have completed the previous course you can continue to use that sketchbook.

You will be shown the work of other textiles artists to help inspire you on your textural journey.

This workshop will be led by Sarah H
