If you want to start at the very beginning this is the place for you - our get to know you sewing machine workshop.
During this 5 hour workshops you'll be taught everything you need to learn to sew.
Topics covered will include;
The parts of the sewing machine
Threading a machine and winding a bobbin
Stitch selection
Starting to sew
Setting tension
Seam Allowances
Presser feet and how to change them
Buttonholes
Basic sewing machine maintenance
Creating and using a simple pattern
Make a cushion
You will need half a metre of fabric at least 140cm wide for the cushion cover, 1 or 2 buttons no bigger than 2.5cm (1 inch) diameter and a 40cm cushion pad.
Remember that fabrics do not need to be new and off the roll. They can come from old clothes, bedding and furnishings. I am happy to advise regarding suitability and quantity if you are looking to use recycled ones.
We can provide a variety of threads for use. However, if you wish to colour match exactly I suggest that your source a reel prior to the workshop to be on the safe side.
Drinks and biscuits will be avialable but we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you.
This workshop is led by Sarah.
During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.
