This workshop will teach you the technique to make a jelly roll rug, but you could equally use the same techniques to make a bath mat, table runner or even table mats and coasters. One jelly roll will make a two bath mats or 4 table mats.
This technique uses strips of fabric that are 2 1’2” wide, the length needed depends on what you would like to make. This makes it a great project for a jelly roll, though you could the strips yourself from fabric you already have in your stash.
To make a rug measuring approximately 20” x 35” you will need a full jelly roll, scaling down depending on what you want to make.
This course is suitable for any skill level.
Your will need to bring:
Fabric – either a jelly roll or a selection of co-ordinating fabric that is or can be cut into 2 ½” strips
Matching or contrasting thread – this project uses a lot so please bring a least 2 reels of 500yrd
Wadding – either Bosal Katahdin 100% Cotton Summer 3oz Batting on a Roll (you will need 2 rolls for the full size rug) or one large piece of light weight wadding (such as Hobbs Heirloom summer weight) that can be cut down to size
We can supply a sewing machine and basic tools, but do feel free to bring your own. It is a great opportunity to become more comfortable with your own equipment.
A packed lunch!
