This is a classic, stylish pared back coat with dropped shoulder and patch pockets. Made in boiled wool it's the perfect coat for taking you from Winter to Spring and its a great competent beginners project with just 6 main body pattern pieces. If you fancy a bit of dressmaking and are looking to build your skills this is the perfect project. The Makers Atelier are a local pattern company, based in Brighton, and produce high quality patterns in classic styles. Once you made this I can assure you you'll be making another or with easy adjustment a shorter jacket version perhaps?
The coat can be finished with raw external edges or sewn with seams on the inside. Either way being unlined it works best with farbics that do not fray such as medium to heavy weight boiled wools. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, Hi-tech synthetics, neoprenes and bonded fabrics. You will need up to 3 metres depending on your sizing and a chart is shown below to assist. Please dont forget to bring matching thread and up to 4 buttons if oyu wish for a buttoned closing. I wear mine without. You'll go home with your own copy of the pattern (RRP £25)
